The Modular Motion Compensated Cable Lay System is our latest development for the future that allows cable lay operators to work with a significantly larger weather window while reducing the risk on cable damage.
With the modular setup of our Motion Compensated Cable Lay system, PSVs and OSVs can easily be adapted to become effective and competitive cable lay vessels. It compensates the horizontal vessel motions, which otherwise cause large variations of the Touch Down Point (TDP) or variations in the cable tension. Catenary dynamics are a common cause of cable failure and restrict the operational window of the vessel.
The motion compensation isolates the lay systems horizontal motions from vessel motions, avoiding dynamics in the catenary. As a result, our motion compensated cable lay system will keep the catenary stationary reducing the risk of cable damage . This significantly increases the weather window even with relatively small vessels.
